A Moose visit OOIDA

Had a Chance today to visit the OOIDA HQ ,
and was very impresses to say the least.
so many hard working peoples there,
helping us all stay in business.
they actually have a guided tour for truckers that stop by.

the purpose of my visit was to show off my brand new trailer.
it is a great privilege to pull that trailer,
and my own way of giving back to the association.

Look me up on the next Land Line Magazine.

we had a lot of talk on Expediting,
many of the staff are routinely following Expediters on line.
it was very nice meeting some industry leaders face to face,
and we had long talks about trucking issues.
i was overwhelmed with the amount of knowledge, and issues on hand they are facing, and how many different issues are effecting our industry, they truly have a full plate.

this visit laid the foundations for me to continue promoting the association, where ever i go, in trucking events, truck convoy's, and trade show's.

also did the Land Line Now thing.
it will air this coming Fri. @ 6 Pm, and 10 Pm. Central.
on XM 106

thanks.

Moose,

They did a really nice job on that trailer. Who did the curtain and the print/paint job?

Looking good Moose! At first glance I thought you had air and electrical at the rear of the trailer, but no pintle hook. I zoomed in and saw what I thought was a 7 prong outlet is really a gauge. What are the two things I mistook for gladhands mounted between the ICC bar verticals?

John,
the deck is an East, it is custom built trailer, that took a lot of planing, to match my spacial needs, overall East did a good job.

the rolling curtain is a Quick Draw system.
i used the Dearborn manufacturing facility, they did an OK job, but for me it was a mistake, using that facility, because i have one here in Minnesota, the Premier94 facility build way better Quick draw system, but i did not know so at the time i placed the order.

the graphic design was made by Transport Graphics Online, out of Rogers Minnesota, they are the best in the business, and just one mile south of the TA .
i cannot speak enough of how well they did the design.

the laser print out is done my Quick Draw in Windsor, O.N
the machine that do the laser graphic is a very busy unit.
Anthony is the one in-charge, and is doing a very good job in communicating, and making shore the costumer will get exactly what he ordered.

Moose,

Very cool. Quickdraw in Dearborn does ours as well. They do the our logos thru Windsor as well. I didnt know you could get as elaborate as you did with it. I HATE to ask, but what did the graphics set you back on that bad boy?

Also, did you do a standard curtain set up from them or an oversized? We have them mount on the outside and take it up a few inches from standard to get us a true 13ft 6 tall and a wider opening giving us a 102inch by 102inch loadable.

Moose's trailer is way cool, and I like Load One's logo too, but it would be even better if it sparkled. Just sayin.....:D

the gauge is the on board scale house.
the 2 things are steps,
i'm on the short side.
normal practice is to drop the air out of the rear airbages for loading/unloading. and even then...
the Firestone air bags are custom built, but that is a long story...

Pict. taken at the I-state dealership, where i bought the trailer,
they have about forty seven of those short runners.
it's getting a bit boring after a few...

please do remember that QD, by the end of the day, are in business of selling stuff.
since they treated me so well, i will kindly take the 5th on that one.
however keep in mind that the laser graphic machine only make one segment at a time, there for, a customer can save some bucks by only running a few segments through the machine.
i can only recommend working with 'transport graphic' on those kind of print outs, they are the best and did many of those in recent years.

Also, did you do a standard curtain set up from them or an oversized? We have them mount on the outside and take it up a few inches from standard to get us a true 13ft 6 tall and a wider opening giving us a 102inch by 102inch loadable.
There is no freaking way i am going to answer this kind of question on an open forum.

John,
looking on that pict. took me back to the times i set down with 'Transport graphic' .
you might be better off calling them.

here are only few items that jump out of that pict.
the back quarter of a trailer is the 1st one to get hit.
that area needs to stay clear of logo's, or changing colors,
it can get costly over the lifespan of the tarp. the best place to place a large logo, is on the front half,
and not on the top part, as the top part get hit with trees.

web addresses, company names, phone #'s ext. , needs to be on the same segment of the tarp.
if a name is crossing 2 segments, then when ,(not if), it is damaged, you will needs to replace 2 segments.(and to run 2 in the graphic machine).

black tarp is the worst one to have.
you are cooking your drivers in summer times.
and they cannot inspect the cargo at night time.

All very good points. But we tried to match the layout with the layout of our dry vans. Believe it or not I have not replaced one panel like that in 3 years and I have 20 of them like that. seems the problems happen with drivers backing into the middle sections and tearing the bottom.

PM me with the cost of the full logo, I am just curious as I have thought about doing one or more with the "blanket wrap".
