A good place to start

For anyone who might be interested in learning a little bit about or getting a small insight into the "Shadow World" a visit to the National Cryptologic Heritage Museum would be a good place to start.

Much of the things that I speak of in these forums are able to be researched here. It is a real shame that a month long visit to this place is NOT required for high school graduation. THEN and ONLY then would people begin to get a small understanding of what REALLY happened during what you all know as the "Cold War". The reality of that "world" is NOT taught in schools. That is a very sad fact. That is how we are able to keep repeating the same mistakes that we made in the past.

That "Shadow World" that I, and many thousands of others, lived and worked in on a daily basis was a very scary place to live. That stress and fear took it's toll on many. Those who died pre-mature deaths, suffered break-downs and had their lives and families ruined are seldom considerd when counting the losses and deaths in defense of this Nation.

It is, for the most part, a part of history that, frankly, most don't want to know about. Most don't want to know or could handle the reality of how this world really is.

If you find yourself with time between runs in the area around Ft. Meade, MD, stop in. It is a part of YOUR National Heritage that most know little about.

Many would find this place very boring Leo. The world of crypto, spies and radio signals might not seem like the thing that would float many peoples boats. In reality it is a lot like science fiction, bad spy novels and a little bit of terror all rolled into one.

All you women's libbers out there should look into the history of the intell service. Women played a HUGE role in that service, even back in the VERY old days. There was never a "glass ceiling" there.

Layout, that is why I pulled the plug after 10 years, some would not understand.

SOME? You mean MOST do not understand, nor do they want too. It is much easier to bury your head in the sand than face reality, eh? It is really too bad that we can't insure that the general public was taught the truth about the Cold War and it's associated conflicts.

Sorry but I cannot tell you WHAT agency I work for. I say work instead of worked because I am still considered active. It is rare that I get called anymore but I have had a recent assignment in a southern border town that resulted in SOME!! things you may have read about.

If I could read that is. When I quit the "business" they "erased" the part of my brain that allowed me to read. I have to have Mrs. Layoutshooter read all these posts to me. I can still type since I don't have to read to type.

I CHOOSE to get out, I was not "forced" out. I got out for many reasons and would NOT serve in that business again, even if I had another chance. I can "joke" at it because I no longer have to deal with it. In all honesty, it was not worth the effort. Good luck to you.

Many of US have gotten out. If you are a valued asset they would call and utilize you. I have read your files Joe and I see now that you probably will never be called. a stellar record except for that one incident. Good luck to you as well. It's just a shame that you let that happen, the country could have used you now.

Whatever you say. You know more than I do I have no doubt. I just enjoy sitting back, driving my truck, hunting and fishing when I can. I don't miss anything about my "Prior" life. I do like the comedy act though.

WELL THEN, IF you know me then you can use my "NICKNAME" in here. IF you know it then I would have a PRETTY good idea who you might be.

Joe, your group was a sister group of the one that I oversaw. You worked under a good friend of mine and we talked about you a GREAT deal when the whole incident went down. I am sure that you do not want the details of that talked about.
