A Few Statistics for 2006 and 2005

We ran 1% less miles in 2006 then we did in 2005 and our income was up 10%. I was very surprised when I compared our fuel costs from 2006 to 2005 which where down 23%. I attribute that to several changes we made this year which have really paid off for us. We changed our transmission from a five speed to a six speed, our top speed we run in 60 mph, we switched to mainly using Flying J fuel, every time we fuel we add Power Service fuel additive, Bob watches our tire pressure constantly, we added Air Tabs, and our truck is seldom dirty. We have gained a consistent mile to the gallon and often a mile and a half which has really paid off with cash in our pocket or I should say savings account at the end of the year.

Bob & Linda,
Thanks for passing on information I'll add to my list of cost saving measures.
23% reduction in fuel costs is substantial that will indeed increase your savings.
Please keep passing on good information my retirement fund will be quite pleased.

This is very important for everyone to note. While the transmission change probably made the biggest difference the other changes certainly contribute. Combining that with paying attention to fuel tax optimization will result in a very significant bottom line improvement. Congratulations to you guys on keeping so much more of your money in your pocket!

I have seen similar results from both. I use Howe's now partly because I can buy it from one of their distributors. Just like paying attention to fuel tax you need to pay attention to other expenses. I have 6 cases of Howe's purchased from the distributor about 14 miles from our daughter's home. Howe's 64oz bottle at the truckstop $11.99. Howe's 64oz bottle at the distributor $5.58. It's possible the Power Service could be purchased the same way. In any event, I can treat 2 fillups per bottle so it costs me less than $3 per fill instead of $6 per fill by watching my spending decision.

We also found about the same results using either fuel additives but found we could get the Power Service in case quantities cheaper.
