A day worth remembering...

Had the pleasure of a long deadhead through the hills of Montana and Idaho yesterday and while I realize the negative side of the being "the paid tourist" it is still the part of Expedite I love the most..
The long waits between loads the blizzards and the lacking of a hat hanger in my life seems so trivial when I have days like today..
What a way to cap a great year and as we cruise into the 6th year of paid tourism I am anxious for what waits around the bend...
Hope everyone finds themselves remembering the finer things in 2010.

To set this up we were very hungry after 10 hrs of slow driving when we found a mom and pop operation serving chili cheese burgers...
Nothing special except they had a pet deer....

Great pics Mike! Are you sure those were pet deer and not chili cheese burgers on the hoof? How long have you guys been in that KW?

My wife and I will be entering into the expedite business very shortly. this " paid tourism " mentality is the attitude we are entering with. Our ulitmate goal is to make a decent living but the other benefits that have only a mental benefit are what we are going to enjoy the most. those are some great pics and we will look forward to adding similar to our exoerience album in the future.

Wow! Simply awesomely beautiful - and the scenery aint too shabby, either, lol.
Mike, if you ever hang up the keys, National Geographic could use you. Thanks for sharing your gift with us. :)

Nice pics, as always, Tude. I really do need to get a better camera than the one I have. The other morning in Laredo I had an 8 point buck helping me check my lights before I left for Houston. He actually waited for me to go get the camera, only to find out the light wasn't quite good enough. Grrr....

Hey Mikey were guys at the TA in Hampshire, Ill. last Monday or Tuesday before Christmas? That truck looks familiar.

I assume the 3 pics with the corners burned out were done with Photoshop. I just can't see you in the sleeper with the curtains taped shut, bent over an enlarger and passing a cardboard "disk on a stick" between the enlarger lens and the photo paper. Ah, the digital era.

I want a 40D or 50D to replace my seldom used A-1. President Obama isn't there a program to help me overcome the financial hurdle into the digital era? Santa did give us a little PowerShot 1200 to replace my near dead little Vivitar. But it ain't a 40D or 50D.

Moot,

I don't know what Tude used but I recently discovered Google Picasa. It is free and much easier though not as precise as photoshop. I do a lot of photography and editing and I really like it.

Hi Steve and Paulette:D
It is a great business or at least it has been good to us however..
It is a different world from when we started and even then we had a little cash reserve..
If you two can go in comfortably with a income of 40k combined you will be ok..I know it sounds laughable but depending on you and the carrier you choose this will be the best or worst adventure ever..
Read the archives, ask questions, buy a nice camera and enjoy the adventure..
PS...It doesn't hurt before you start out to live a week in a closet with your significant other...
You might learn something;)
