A/C & Generator question

I have gone back through the archives and can't quite get a direct answer. I have seen some vans and sprinters that have a roof top A/C unit and the Honda Super Quiet EU2000i with the 20 amp outlet running them. Then I read the posts in here and most say you need a 3000 watt unit. Anyone using the EU2000i Honda with a roof top A/C and if so how is it working for you. I'm thinking about the 8000 btu A/C unit.

I could use some clairity from the brain trust.

Thanks to everyone.

Check out the Yamah EF2400is. Yamaha says it will run up to a 10k btu AC.

Your best bet, hire a vet! Please.

The older model Honda 2000 would handle the surge because they were 20 amps...but if you look the redesigned new models are only 18.2 amp or something like that...That is why some are suggesting the 3000 model....There is an Artic Cat made by Coleman rooftop model that is a 7,000 btu that runs well...about $1500 installed...

I asked my RV about the 7000 btu unit. He told me it would be a great unit if i wasnt going to be anywhere that the tempatures get above 85 degrees that is why I went with the 13500 btu unit it was only 750 installed. and i have the 3500 watt generator. I can run a/c and almost anything else I need to run.

Tumbleweeds, Id be real careful about outting a big rooftop unit on top of that CargoMax until you get a good handle on driving habit and gas mileage...i am slowly working mine to 14-8 to 15.2 as a high....adding a big ac unit up there can't help at all..

I use a roll around 12,000 btu with a 2200 watt generator in the old van, but in the new van I am going to a 8000 to 10,000 btu small window unit and do it like OVM does....Ok Kenny, you can explain now....

Dennis,

Thanks for the info. What have you been doing to get the mileage up to 14-15 mpg. Thats encouraging. It beats the 12.3 that you were getting. We are still in an uproar over our CargoMax. The dealer said it would be in by the 16th, then said maybe a day or two longer. We put delivery by the 20th on the contract. We talked to the salesman tonight and he said "well it might be in or at least shipped by the end of the week". We may have to walk on this one cuz we are out of time. We have spent several hundred dollars trying to put this all together. So we are not in a great mood. Anyway, thanks for the info on the A/C unit.

Tumbleweed, Call Josh in Okla , you have spoke to him before...bust his chops and tell him you will walk if not delivered when agreed upon....he is the one that handles them from the dealers...The mileage is just getting better as the miles rack up...I did the 2nd oil change with the AmsOil and it started getting better from there...but I think it is more of a "breakin" period then anything...I am also back up to 65 mph regularly, but anything over that and it drops like a rock...
