Veteran Expediter
here we go again .
in some parts of the country we see diesel sold at the pump for over 3 $ a gallon , cash price .
it is the good O'l lame excuse of home heating oil competing with diesel production and distribution in the north east .
but other places see it as well .
3$ by it self , wont present any special problem for Expediters , but you have to be prepared for rapidly rising fuel prices .
what can present a problem , is that the FSC will not be quick to follow , there for ,the one paying for the fuel , will have to observe the extra costs of moving the truck .
you need to be aware of it .
you have to know the costs of doing business in the area where your load will take you , before excepting the load .
and if you can , negotiate the base rate , or FSC , to cover those extra costs , or decline a load that otherwise will be profitable ,
let someone else pay to move the freight.

keep in mind , that just because you drive where fuel is more expensive ,dose not raise the costs of doing business , it is where you fuel that cost you money .
a good example is the new England states , many trucks can fuel in the mid Eastern states , go up , and back out without fueling .
