That is not too bad. My 2004 Sprinter cost me a bit less than that in maintenance over the 779k miles I expedited in it. I did almost all the maintenance myself though.

I never closed out the maintenance costs for my 2004 Chevy. I sold it with 820,000 miles and my last maintenance cost update was at 792,000 with a .033/mile.

Since we kinda know what it cost to run a sprinter and a transit, how about somebody posting real numbers on a promaster to let us know what the cost per mi to run one. Just so we can compare between the three.

What does it cost to maintain a late model $printer.
Comparing an 04 $printer to a 15 Transit seems apples to oranges to me.

So far I’ve only had to do 2 oil changes and filter changes (air, cabin and fuel filters). About $250 for about 48,000 mi.

Nice.
I wish you continued good luck.
We all know those will probably be your lowest cost miles.
Westy probably has very accurate Promaster numbers if he’ll share them.
His may be lower than normal because he has good pricing through his normal dealer and I image some stuff he does “in-house.”

Have we heard back from that fleet owner that went from like 30 $printers to 15 Transits and 15 Promasters ?

2 oil changes in 48,000 miles ?
What’s the recommended interval ?
OEM recommended oil changes are at 20k. I did the first 2 at that recommended mileage but am a little gunshy about running that many miles before oil change. Will change to 15k oil changes from now on. My 2012 Sprinter oil change recommendation was 10k and thats where I pretty much kept to that mileage before changing.

I don’t have all the numbers ready for the Promaster. In the last 19 months I have spent $9500. All new cooling system, tuneup twice, brakes twice. CV joints/axels. Shocks/struts. The first 200,000 had little expense but the last 227,000 are a different story. Now at 427,000 still have original engine and tranny with no issues. Oil changes every 7-8k with synthetic oil is kind of over kill but cheap insurance. Overall no real issues just fix it when it squeaks, whines, or grinds.

You're welcome. I will continue to post my maintenance costs a couple times a year. Hopefully my cost per mile will drop some over the next 50,000 miles barring any major repair.

I shared my maintenance costs for my last van here up until I sold it with 820,000 miles on it. The guy I sold it to was a foreigner and he ran it to just over 900,000 miles before selling it. He didn't update from where I left. Probably didn't want to mess with converting to metric and dealing with the language barrier. :D

I would change tire size but with 2 of us switching driving I'm afraid the 5+ MPH difference at highway speed might cause an issue. Curious, why didn't you go with LT225/75R16

You can't do much better than 3 cents per mile maintenance costs. And it did drop a bit as you hoped it would.

I also was concerned with the 8% difference in speed and distance with switching to larger diameter tires. For a short time I relied on my Garmin for accurate speed readings. I used an old iPone, a Bluetooth dongle and downloaded the UltraGauge app which enabled me to adjust the speed and mileage by 8% to compensate for the larger diameter tires.

I don't recall why I didn't 225/75 R16 tires. I wanted to try Michelins and possibly they didn't have that size in a load range E. Regardless, I hated the Hankooks. I was disappointed I got 82,500 miles out of them. I was hoping for 50,000 so I could replace them with decent tires. The Michelins are so much more stable in cross winds and on ice and snow.

Here's a screen shot of my UltraGauge on an iPhone 6.
