Just wait. Mexico is not going to be content to work as we do with Canada.THEY are going to push to run loads withing the US AND Canada.

This is just an Obama move to pay off the ATA.

Contrary to what many believe (or have been taught), the Roman Empire did not simply end in 476 with the sacking of Rome. It died a long, protected death over several centuries. Most Romans living at that point in time would probably not even have guessed this would be looked at by future generations as "The End". Can't help but wonder what point will be pointed out by future historians as our "End".

One would have to think this deal is a total loser - the unions are totally against it, the CA legislators and the GOP reps. Obama has to cowtow to the unions since they're one of the few support groups that are still firmly backing him. Hopefully, there will only be a trickle of these shipments coming in so it won't effect American driving jobs. On top of all this, US trucking companies won't go into Mexico because of the crime (as emphasized in the article), so the US doesn't get anything at all from the deal.

I'm puzzled ... well maybe tired from all the work I did for the last two day but where is this a constitutional issue?

I must remind those who think that this is an Obama thing - go ask Newt why he helped pass NAFTA and while you are at it, ask Romney and Perry in between their arguments what are they going to actually do about it.

The hard cold truth is that no matter what, this will not impact what we do nor will it matter much for anything else because we already have an open border and an inept congress.

Obama COULD have taken us OUT of NAFTA. This is on HIS watch. OF course congress is inept. We only elect inept people. You just can't get milk out of a bull frog. The "open border" is just MORE proof that Obama, and congress, have NO interest in what is good for the United States.

I object.....Closing the border is NOT the way to go.....Open it up wide and let commerce flow....

NOT commerce, more invaders!! We can have commerce with a controlled border. The invasion needs stopped. If the government does not stop it soon, in the right way, the People will take matters into their own hands. As well they should. Crunch time is coming.

What?

Take us out of a treaty?

Nope, would not happen and if you think it mattered, then you need to actually learn what it is all about.

The open border issue has been around since we were an established country, and it is not proof of any Obama issue but that of every president and every congress not willing to tackle the issue and fix the problem.

OVM, close the border - period. Commerce can wait but the safety of the country can't.

Immigration has no real issues, we are a country of laws and those laws are supposed to protect us first and the immigrant second, not the other way around. Maybe we need to institute a system like Australia has where if you are actually needed, then you can stay but if you are not - see ya. Wouldn't you think that the job you are doing can be replaced by say a US citizen?

In addition to that, we are hurt by two other issues, one is work permits for people who live in other countries and work here by crossing the border and special visas where they come here to do a job because of some reason or another. The former is a serious problem for those who live in border cities and want to have a job but won't get hired.
