Just wait, Ford is offering to buy out white collar workers and will be doing the same for some blue collars' soon.

Chrysler is also doing the employee shuffle, my wife has a freind whose husband is not allowed to retire until they announce the buyouts for his plant. She figures they will end up with some $100k extra. He is already milking it, he is on medical 'leave'. The company picks him up in a nice vehicle for him and his wheel chair, he stays in a room with a plasma TV and all the free food he wants to eat in a room for four hours then he gets driven home while being paid full wages for at 8 hour plus an additional 'medical pay'. He can't work because he was too drunk and fell down the stairs at work coming back from lunch.

I expect him to buy a Expediting RV when he retires join the ranks of the super wealthy expediters. :p

my wife has a freind whose husband

Another infamous he/she knows him/her and them/they done this and that to ________ .
[done so many times, it's become totally ridiculous]

And finishes with the 83rd mention of the phrase "Expediting RV"

Seriously, if you're gonna flood the forum with useless post and jibs at folks ??
then at least come up with some new material.
Pathetic

I don't know why I am even posting anything. Maybe I believe that you can post things more useful like you did the other day. Yea it was still a stab at me but I and others learned something. Maybe you got to get a life dude, I mean relax and take it easy, retire and move somewhere where there is no computer or TV. Who cares about me and my 32 foot end of life class 7 FedEx reject? It seems you do, but why?

Well about what I posted, I can't put it any other way except the way I did, he is in fact the husband of a friend of my wife who worked with her at two different companies. If you want names, you're out of luck there bucko, I don't use names. Not because I make things up, but I ask them first than if they say yes, ok I use names.

By the way I never met the idiot, which he is by the way because he lacks common sense, the ability to form whole sentences and he too complains about what other people say instead of bringing something to the table for all to enjoy (the last part is in fact the reason he is never invited to the any of the employee get togethers). However, I met his wife and I have heard her explain the events that led up to his medical 'condition' and it is rather close to what I described.

AND I know it is hard to believe this but some auto companies actually pay people to sit around and not work, a problem that is called the 'job bank'.

It is a shame;

That he is paid for eight hours sitting around doing nothing for four of that while being taken to and from work that the buyer of the product ultimately pays for.

That you have trashed me (how many times now?) and you have brought to the forum a handful of posts that are actually useful with meaningful things that people can learn from. Come on Thib, I am not going away just because you say all of this, so look beyond me and start being a useful member.

Pathetic?

I think not.

Gentlemen,

I have been guilty of allowing my personal feelings to surface within the context of my posts.

May I suggest that we all respond to personal differences via Private Messages.

More often than not, my frustration and venting was the result of misunderstanding and not due to a dislike for anyone personally.

I love everybody. :D

Oh, I know! Maybe someone could post another chapter from "Expediting Without Ethics: How to Steal Your Carrier's Customer List". That way we can get away from all these childish personal attacks and get back to what really matters.

There was a mama mole, a papa mole, and a baby mole. They lived in a hole outside of a farm house out in the country. The papa mole reached his head out of the hole and said, "Mmmmm, I smell sausages!" The mama mole reached her head outside of the hole and said, "Mmmmmm, I smell pancakes!" The baby mole tried to reach his head outside the hole but couldn't because of the two bigger moles. The baby mole said, "The only thing I can smell is molasses."

Drive a Toyota or a Honda?

Thank the guy who is driving a Toyota. Buy more Japanese cars - then we won't make any cars.

Lawrence... more of the Japanese cars are being made in the US and Canada than the big 3. The Japanese are smart... they don't buy from Mexico (or at least not as much).

I'm sure a few may try expediting. How many have class A's and B's DL's..not many, so the van market may get more flooded. How many will get into another industry that deals heavy with the auto industry after the auto industry just let them go and they see first hand what's happening in the sector? I don't think we have much to worry about, chances are the BO money will be saved, and a lot of these packages include schooling. Let them goto truck driving school, we won't see them for at least a year anyway.

They'll buy the nice, new trucks, find out they can't do it, and quit or go into the red. Then, the industry will be flooded with nice, new trucks for sale, and the smart ones will snatch em up for pennies on a dollar. :)

Most carriers already have a cap on the number of trucks in their fleets.

There have been folks who purchased a truck only to discover that they could not find a carrier who would put it into their fleet. Ouch!

Moreover, when I have been asked the question, "Do you like what you do?", I reply, "Yes, but you may not and here are the reasons why."

I have yet to meet the first Big Three retiree, or buyout worker, out here on the road.

For the few who may get into expediting, the market is too tight to allow for the common mistakes that all new O/O's will make and that will unfortunately cause them to do as Tennesseahawk mentioned.

Regardless of how many books, or articles, that one reads about a particular avocation, everything that has been written never addresses our human nature (our flesh if you will). Armed with all of the knowledge available...many times...we still are prone to act on impulse.

Like the Little Engine That Could (I think can, I think can, I know I can...) we can rationalize ourselves right into bankruptcy.

Lawrence,
I own several vehicles.

My FL-70 is made in Mexico

My '97 dodge is made in Mexico

My '98 Caravan is made in Canada

My '87 'burb is made in the US.

In ten years, I went from a high end real SUV to a P/U - both cost the same but the cost of labor had a difference of 40% - with the profit of 40% more, you would think that the cost would be cheaper?
