Our National debt has now topped 16 TRILLION and counting. This administration has accounted for more than 25% of that debt. Imagine, 25% of the Nations TOTAL debt, for it's entire history, in just 4 years.

Obama's answer? MORE SPENDING! Oh wait, it's "investment" in people, or infrastructure or education etc. Investment my hind end, it's vote buying and the fools are going to buy it, again.

How does Obama intend to pay for this? More debt? It does amaze me. He CLAIMS multiple college degrees and yet is unable to add 1+1 and get that right.

We can't cut everything tho. The economy is like a double edged sword right now. Too much and consumer spending will decrease. At the same time I do think there are some programs that need cut like Planned Parenthood for instance. I think the health care law can be revamped, but just to include a clause with preexisting conditions and such, because I tried and tried to get coverage with my psoriasis and even tho it's hereditary they considered it a pre existing condition.

We can cut alot start with shutting down the Education Department, EPA, ENergy Dept, Agricutlure Dept,Highway Dept. The only thing the Federal govt should be doing is Military, FBI, CIA, Immigration and BOrder Security send everything else back to the states and local governements and cut out the fat azz middleman(federal govt)

I'd almost agree Bob...but all the listed depts except education are part of the national infrastucture which involve interstate commerce....when products go coast to coast....

to add...BUT they don't need to be the monster depts they've grown into....

What I'm hearing you all say is, there is so much red tape and special interest stuff out there that many will feel their privileges will be taken away and their special parking lane with their name on it will be removed and on and on and on. We are a spoiled nation by the benefits we want voted in and we got them now and time is short on how to keep them going is a real nightmare.

Let's see, pharmacies should only open on M, W and Friday, gas stations open only on Monday thru Friday, 8am to 6pm. Banks open Monday thru Friday from 9am to 2pm. Garbage pickup twice a month and cut Congresses pay by 60 percent. Do away with the DOT, and the IRS. I'm Skyraider and I approve this message because no one else in America has any good ideas either that we can all agree on, now do we? If the above statements do not appeal to you, see what ideas your state and national representatives have for you, you will not like those either.

Government...keep the people divide and they can do whatever they want...when 51 people can tell 49 others what to do......a dictatorship is so much easier to rule....

15 years from now we will all be able to think back and say:

Remember when our national debt was only 16 trillion?

Scary but possible if something doesn't change.:(

Cut the bureaucracy, cut each .fed agency in half, but reduce the amount of red tape they have to wade through to get stuff done. AKA increase efficiency.

Amazing thing is that being overweight is considered a pre condition and they will not cover weight loss programs, but will cover the damage done to your body caused by the excess weight.

The same with smoking. No coverage for smoking cessation programs, but coverage for a lung transplant.

I just can't figure it out.

Not only possible, but probable. It's highly likely that in our lifetimes we'll not see a national debt so small as $16 Trillion again. If the Credit Card President gets re-elected to continue his spending binge the time will come in the not-too-distant future when the nation won't be able to pay it's bills - the US will be in default. Just as with individuals, the lenders (eg. China) will cancel the credit card and severe austerity will be imposed on the citizens who lived on Hope and promises. The Heritage Foundation has a brief but excellent article that illustrates what happens if we don't bring this spending under control:
U.S. national debt is currently about 71 percent of GDP—plus an additional 31 percent of GDP of “in-house” debt that the U.S. Treasury owes to the Social Security trust fund and similar funds...
If the U.S. government will not accept gradual, planned reductions in spending in the present, it should expect sudden, unplanned reductions in the future. After losing money to default once, lenders will no longer finance U.S. deficit spending.

This severe austerity could easily mean that entitlements such as welfare, food stamps, medicare, Social Security, govt subsidies for everything from mohair to medical research will be severely reduced if not eliminated altogether. If defense spending is slashed, we'll find ourselves weakened and vulnerable to any and all of those who would do us harm - and don't think for a minute the Chinese, Russians, Iranians, etc aren't paying close attention to this year's elections. If Barack Hussein Obama gets re-elected there'll be some happy campers on the other side of the world.

Our enemies are working HARD to insure that Obama is reelected. They know he is their friend.

Here is something that most don't realize. Only 8 percent of our debt is actually owed to China. They just happen to be someone to blame. Rightly so, but not because of what we owe, but rather their trade practices that we keep getting screwed on. Countries we also owe money to are Russia, Brazil and a few others.
Our biggest debt is to ourselves. Raiding social security, future pensions, medicare, and a whole host of other things is really who we owe money to. Well sell to ourselves and then print the money. How convoluted is that? What happens when we can't sell anything to ourselves because the paper is worthless? Yep...you guessed it. We turn into Europe.
As mentioned in other thread with regards to the poor. Guess who is going to feel the effects of that inflation? Certainly won't be the rich.

It can be fixed. It will take 50-100 years to do it right. One thing is for sure. If NOTHING is done to get spending under control, we will collapse. I do believe that is what Obama wants.

I do mot believe our Gov. will go the austerity way.
for several rezones:
austerity stands in contrast to the republic way of governing here in the USA.
austerity will only work if a massive tax increase is placed on GDP producers.
austerity mean a great reduction in Gov. size
if done right, austerity eliminate socialism.
we do not see austerity in any other modern world economy collapse, not even in Zimbabwe :úåöàåú çéôåù úîåðåú á-Google òáåø http://www.economonitor.com/lrwray/files/2011/08/image002.jpg
what we did see is the public becoming to relay on gov. handouts every single time.
austerity, to a point, is a part of hyper-inflation, which IS coming.
it won't help. there are other solutions that will.
(& that's a lot of first use for a word i learned only a few months ago...)

I don't know for sure that Obama wants the US to collapse. If it did, he would have nothing to rule. One thing for sure, he is clueless as to how the economy works and is in way over head. He said so himself by giving himself a "incomplete".

Time will tell. IF he does want it to collapse it will because he wants even MORE than to rule us. Like be the Supreme Being that lords over the Soviet Socialist States of North America.

Do you think he will try and change the law about only being allowed two terms? I think he wants to hold that office forever!

IF Obama is reelected there may never be another election. ONE more term is all he needs to consolidate his power. There will be NO U.S. Constitution if that Marxist gets a second term.
