12v ameter gage

I've had a 99 FL-70 parked for 2 yrs and getting it going - alzheimers I guess but can't remember if the 12V I see now on gage is what I normally had before. I was thinking 14 but looking for a consensus - manual says 12V.

OK, I thought this look like another post.

I have an FL70, soon to grow up.... but anywho when my alternator failed, it went to 12 volts on the gage. When I got a new one, it was at 13 volts for some reason until I cleaned all the cables. Then it popped up to 13.5 to 14.1 depending on a lot of things. It should sit above 13 volts on the meter and not go over much over 14 but I would recommend getting a digital meter and checking it at the battery.

I have a digital gauge that sits on the dash, it monitors the accessory leg of the system, that lags behind the batteries by .7 of a volt.

It's a voltmeter, measures voltage output. Should read 13.5-14.2 area for most units.
The old ammeters went out of style as someone decided we didn't need to know the amperage going to the batteries or whether they were charging or discharging (best info for a short etc). Yup that voltmeter tells you more (not!!).
