    Three months of flat rate

So we've been flat rate for three months now. How is it working out for you? So far all I've seen is our rate per mile go down and our dry run count go up. I haven't seen more loads or "more miles". I wonder when the contractors will begin seeing the benefits of this program.

    Long deadheads

We have been getting some extremely long deadhead miles on our new flat rate load opps. Example: 477 dh 45 loaded. Is this because no one will do the short runs on the new pay plan? It amazes me that they could pay me to dh that far but not pay a truck in the area a fair rate to do the run...

Likes and Dislikes of Flat Rate

What do you like or dislike about the new flat rate pay plan? I like, All tolls paid Hazmat pay Dry run pay All miles paid (no more 50 free deadhead) I dislike, Minimum load pay (I don't think it pays enough) Deadhead pay rate (it will prevent long deadheads but is better than relocation pay)...

    DHPL Pay taken away

It cost me $160 to learn something new today. Three weeks ago I delivered on a Saturday in Mayport, FL. I was given a planned layover of Atlanta. Since it was the weekend and I only live 100 miles away I went home and out of service for a week. Once back in service at home I received a load...

    Changing drivers and HOS

When changing drivers is it necessary for the new driver to do a 15 minute pretrip? We do, but not sure if it is required. The other driver does a post trip and a VIR.

    Adjusting restart day

My restart becomes available at 1900 on Sunday night thru 0500 on Tuesday morning. I would like to adjust it so it starts one day earlier. 1900 on Saturday through 0500 on Monday. I will be home OOS for 2 weeks. How would I get the CLink to adjust? Keep rejecting restarts until that time or can...

Changes to Deadhead to Planned Layover

From the April 5th, 2013 Fleet Bulletin: "FedEx Custom Critical will be making changes to the way it offers deadhead to planned layover (DHPL) options. Currently, the company offers DHPL options under which it compensates contractors to the exact center point of an Express Center. Starting...

    Performance Monitoring

Is there any way to reset the Performance Monitoring function on our QC's? Ours has been running since August. I would like to be able to use it to see how our fuel mileage changes week to week and in different driving conditions.

Load opp notification by text message

We just had the load opp notification by text message option activated today. Any opinions on using this feature? Does it only notify you if you are showing available on C Link or will it send a text if you are available on the VRU also? We have noticed that when we are in poor cell coverage...

Change to the method that non-discounted loads are offered.

I'm wondering how this will effect the load opps we receive? Might be time to buy that lift axle and make some extra money hauling "E" loads.. From the Nov 16, 2012 Fleet Bulletin: "Starting Monday, Nov. 26, we will offer non-discounted loads out to trucks based on the shipment’s weight and...

    We're Back

After 8 months at LEAM we are back with FedEx Custom Critical. Although LEAM is a great company to work with we decided that the grass really wasn't any greener on the other side of the fence. At least for us. Our income is down almost 30% and we are staying on the road longer to try and make...

    Status 88

I am currently running solo for a little while. Last night I did a run that took 14 hours to complete. Upon arriving at the truck stop I put myself on status 88 to get some rest. Fours hours later someone from accounting called looking for paperwork. I was polite and told her I was sleeping...

    Moving?

Am I the only one that keeps getting messages while on a run that say, "Moving?", "Please send 08 if stopped" or "current location please"? One would think that with this modern QC and $35 a week charge that they would know where we are and if we are moving.

    Dallas

What's up with Dallas? We delivered here on Thursday night expecting to get a load out on Friday. We accepted a lot of the opps but other trucks with more dwell time got them. Nothing on Sat or Sun. But we figured that since we were at the top of the dwell time list we would surely get...
