CV and a tear drop camper

Last night at the local Walmart I saw a Ford E350 CV pulling a Little Guy tear drop camper. It was not being used for expediting but it got me to thinking. Would any carriers let someone pull one of these around with them? They only weigh about 1000 pounds and have 85 pounds of tongue weight...

Hit and Run and CIS Insurance update

I wanted to update these two threads to let everyone know that with the help of John and Shelly at CIS all of the repairs to our truck have been completed. We were paid $2100 for 12 days of downtime coverage with no waiting period. Randy, our insurance adjuster from Progressive was great to work...

CV and Sprinter Drivers: Would you still drive

Would you still drive a CV or Sprinter if you had to log? Or would you rather drive a straight truck if you didn't have to log? And why for either answer. Just looking for honest answers. I am still trying to learn more about the van side of the business.

    Is the freight damaged?

Last week we were the victims of a hit and run accident in Kingman, Arizona while parked at the Flying J. After notifiying the police and filling out a report we called our carrier to report it to them. When I told the dispatcher that our truck had been run into and damaged the first question...

    Commercial Insurance

Does anyone have an insurance company that they are happy with? We were recently the victims of a hit and run and are now finding out that things told to us by our agent are not 100% true. Including this statement. "The policy includes $175 per day up to $5250 Downtime coverage if you vehicle...

Victims of a Hit and Run driver

We made our delivery this morning and decided to stop at the Flying J in Kingman, AZ. After having breakfast we walked next door to K Mart to pick up some supplies. Upon returning to our truck we discovered we were the victims of a hit and run. Someone hit our right front tire hard enough to...

    Stolen Fuel Cap

We delivered Friday in Richmond, VA, went to the T/A in Ashland, fueled and parked our truck. (I always double check the caps as awhile back I had not put one on properly and fuel splashed all over the tanks) We had a pick up scheduled in Norfolk on Saturday. Somewhere around 0400 something...

    Campgrounds and CMV's

Does anyone use campgrounds for layovers? Are commercial motor vehicles allowed in them? I thought it might be nice to try and find one that has a lake for fishing and swimming and some BBQ grills and picnic tables. It would be a whole lot nicer than sitting in a truckstop all weekend.

    A Question for Van Drivers?

I'm probably gonna get slammed for asking this, but I am asking because I feel naive and want to learn more about the vanner lifestyle as I am considering the pros and cons of adding on a van to my fleet of one S/T. I have the utmost respect for all pro drivers and realize that we all have to...

    Dry Runs

Whats the record for dry runs in one day? We had 2 today. Run #1 North Carolina to New York. Run #2 South Carolina to Arizona. I had to check the calender to make sure it wasn't Friday the 13th.

    Battery Powered HVAC

Is anyone using a battery powered HVAC unit? I am interested in something like the NITE or Climacab system. How well will it heat and cool a 72 inch sleeper? How long will it run before recharge? How long does it take to recharge while driving or idling? Any recommendations? I have seen...

    Blizzard Warning

I just saw on the news that there is a blizzard warning for Friday and Saturday covering the area from Washington DC up to southern New Jersey. 12 to 24 inches of snow and 40 to 50 mph winds. Wind chill factors in the single digits. It's going to be a nasty weekend.

    Idleaire Vandalism

I delivered this morning and I am at the TA in Spartanburg, SC. I noticed almost all of the idleaire modules have been removed with the wires looking like they were cut with a knife. I wonder if this is drivers who still had money on there cards. I also wonder if we will be seeing these things...

    Propane powered generator?

Has anyone used or is currently using a propane powered generator? Is it legal to carry a couple of 20 pound tanks through the tunnels and over the bridges? From the research I've been doing it seems that a propane generator will run about as efficently as a gas model and it would be a lot...
