NEWS Flash FEDEX CC Tractor Trailer spoted in Catcus Land Fill in Phoenix AZ

I'm not sure I understand the point you are trying to make with your post. If I saw a FedEx Custom Critical truck at a landfill or dump, I would presume the truck was on the debris-removal portion of a profitable run. Debris removal is a service we sometimes offer. On such a load, the items...

    FedEx

It's funny. I was talking with a Sprinter operator the other day and he was telling me how all the B loads were being given to C trucks because dock-high C trucks are more important in the fleet. Now, in this thread I read how C loads are going onto B trucks (Sprinters). Whatever kind of truck...

    Confounded by Big Cat Giveaways

Dispatchers are human and have their bad days. But when such a failing in professionalism occurs, I know for a fact that our carrier wants to know about it. It is a serious issue if a dispatcher is offending drivers. I don't take the issue all the way to the top (pray to God). Instead, I...

    Have you noticed?

Come to think of it, a number of truck stops have cut their full-service restaurant hours back. They are no longer open all night long, or have cut menu items way back during late-night hours. TA announced a while ago that they were cutting jobs because of reduced traffic. We can see the...

    airtabs and the expo

Photos below show a truck (Jeanie's truck) with Airtabs on the mirror and sleeper roof. This truck also has Airtabs on the tool box but they do not show up well in the photo. The tabs are painted to blend in, which they pretty-much do when you see the truck.

    Have you noticed?

We were at a Flying J for a few hours last night and saw a strange sight; about a third of the parking places were empty. I mentioned this to a flatbed driver I visited with this morning. He said he is noticing more open parking places at rest areas too. Signs of the times?

    airtabs and the expo

There was a fair amount of Airtab activity and talk at the Expo. After the show, five trucks parked to model their air tabs. A sixth truck got a set installed with help from Bob Caffee and two women, Jeanie and Susie, who called themselves "The Tabettes." They are straight-truck drivers and...

So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Good-Bye

Terry and Rene, You two were among the very first to tell us about the life and work of expediting after we discovered this style of trucking by stumbling upon the EO booth at the Mid-America Trucking Show in 2003. The personal stories you shared helped us know that expediting is work worth...

    Combination washer/dryer in sleeper

Another option is to wear only a G-string when doing your tarping. You would remain legal under indecent exposure laws, overheating in the summer would not be an issue, and cleanup would be as easy as a shower and the need to do laundry is reduced. Winter work might be more of a challenge, but...

This is an intriguing comment and a change from the past, I presume. Can you elaborate? I spent all day yesterday at the Expedite Expo, attending seminars and visiting with exhibitors and attendees. The seminar rooms are filled with people wanting to know how to finance their first truck and...

Which Garmin Nuvi Model is Good?

Turtle, Can the route recalculate feature be turned off? There are often times when we do not have the option of deviating from our planned route, or there may be a reason why we would not wish to.

    Combination washer/dryer in sleeper

I would think one or two pairs of coveralls would be lighter and cheaper. Whatever space/components you would have to give up in the sleeper to make room for the washer/dryer could be retained. I only know of one owner-operator team that had a washer/dryer in the sleeper. When they talked...

    airtabs and the expo

The Airtab web site is: www.airtab.com. You can order Airtabs there. We recently added them to our truck and are now Airtab believers. Preliminary results are positive and it appears the product will pay for itself in a short time.

Which Garmin Nuvi Model is Good?

It is helpful to me, Rocketman. Thank you. Let me ask, why did you go with the 750 instead of a less-featured model? Like you, I have no need for some of the features built into the 750. Compared to less-featured models, what was it about the 750 that drew you in?
