    Tragedy on the race track.

I don't know if Stewart hit the gas instead of slowing down, but if he did, it may have been his option for evading the guy on foot - one doesn't always avoid a collision by slowing down. In any case, I cannot believe that Stewart deliberately "bumped" or tried to "scare" the guy, that's just...

    Tragedy on the race track.

Stewart is a pro with many years of experience, and I don't believe he did anything reckless. The victim did something unexpected, if not reckless. It is terrible that it cost his life, but a racetrack is no place for pedestrians - what he wanted to say could have waited until after the race, IMO.

The dog days of summer: AUGUST!

In an uninsulated van, there's only so much you can do, [park in shade, place reflective screens outside on windshield/windows] and it's not enough to bring the temp down to liveable, so my advice would be a motel. Or spend the day elsewhere: movies, mall, anyplace with swimming, etc. Then go...

    Considering bringing spouse on road

Dynamite's rules are great [as is his marriage], but I think a lot has to do with how you each handle the disagreements that will occur. Some things, [slamming doors, 'the silent treatment'] just don't work. And forget about going off for a ride to clear your head, lol. You really need to be...

    Where to go?

It doesn't take fortune telling ability to choose Atlanta over Savannah, or Cleveland over Youngstown, does it? And don't you have a few [closely guarded] 'fishing holes' yourself? :p Newbies don't know where the [frequent] shippers are, but dispatchers/load planners do, or should. Seeing...

    Where to go?

If it were me, I'd head straight for a carrier that has some idea as to where the freight is likely to originate, in areas where I don't.

    Our Media in Action

I'm thoroughly, utterly, and completely confused over the outrage aimed at a reporter who got drunk, rather than the EMTs who sued for $1 million [each!] when the drunk tried to bite them. Reporters have a long & colorful tradition of drinking when on overseas assignments, and while this one...

I guess it's beats being boarded, eh? ;)

    Or this one

Is there a point to this? Other than peppering the forum with incidents that illustrate what you've said countless times already? Because I don't believe anyone said it doesn't happen. The debate is whether it justifies the death penalty. And that debate is active, right now, in another thread...

    Texas executed and innocent man

Re: Texas executed an innocent man I said "I think Perry should go to that same prison, with the prosecutor". Was that unclear? Prosecutors have a great deal of power, and frequently, political ambitions, which is not an optimum combo for obtaining justice, IMO. And just FYI: there are some...

Does your daughter run for Load 1 too? Just ragging on ya, I know she doesn't, but the missing comma makes it look like she does. And I'm really missing my daughter, who got to run her car at Norwalk Raceway last weekend, something I'd have loved to see. Daughters are just too cool these days...

    Target rich environment

Ok, but how does anyone know whether the person wishing to buy a weapon is law abiding and responsible, without a background check? In the examples I cited, those convicted of domestic abuse and those under a current restraining order are not 'law abiding', and those who report having a weapon...

    Texas executed and innocent man

Re: Texas executed an innocent man If Perry [or any governor] hasn't time to give a matter of literal life or death the careful attention it deserves, they should delegate it to someone who does. He could have had a trusted aide study the information - heLL, maybe he did, and nobody cared...

Yes to Susie returning, and we're glad to have her back! If you see her, [truck has decals that look like the sides of the box are slashed, showing a flag underneath, which really looks better than it sounded when she described it to me, lol], say hi, she's good people.

    Texas executed and innocent man

Re: Texas executed an innocent man The jury was shown a lot of prejudicial stuff, like witnesses who said he didn't try to run back into the burning house, and he was seen [gasp!] drinking beer and laughing several days after the funerals - things like that go a long way to portray someone...

    Texas executed and innocent man

Re: Texas executed an innocent man We can never be guaranteed safe from being 'homicided' [love that word!], no matter how many prisons are built, or how escape proof they are. Until we understand how the human mind functions, and can predict irrational behavior, delusional people will live...

    Major Milestone

If kids of high school age want to become familiar with firearms [I believe they already understand "what the political fuss is all about"], Eddie Eagle can't help them. Per the linked blurb, the program is offered to pre-K through 3rd grade. No matter how many kids have seen the program, the...

    Target rich environment

Two thing strike me as ridiculous here: that I have a "natural" right to buy a weapon, but don't have a "natural" right to buy food, and that the numbers you refer to were provided by currently incarcerated felons, lol. Are you seriously arguing that the right to bear arms should belong to...

    Inverter help!!

It's always good to have a Plan B, lol. If worse comes to worst, you can always use the microwave at the truckstop or convenience store, now & then. ;)
