To all of you out there: My suggestion to avoid broken crankshafts is to have your balancer checked & have it retorqued while it is in for service. I have a small story about this one. Not any except that I have worked on motors most of my life. I am 43. I now own 3 Sprinters. Love these darn vans to death. They are not that hard to work on. But every day can be a new adventure.
