Is there a way to turn off the posted pictures?

FWIW: I'm using a laptop that is cursed with Windows 8. It has the touch-pad mouse, no scroll wheel but I think if you don't mind getting fingerprints all over your screen you can use touch on the screen to scroll. I just use the arrows on my keyboard--- that touch stuff is for the birds.

Is there a way to turn off the posted pictures?

It's what comes of using a phone to do a PC's job. A tiny screen + a less than lightspeed connection---.

    Self-Driving Freightliner Licensed in Neveda

Oh-- heck. I grew up with the Jetsons. Where's my flying car that folds into a briefcase I can keep by my desk?

when an expedited load turns out to not really be an expedite

Hmmmm.... You know, when you consider that they're paying me a fortune (compared to what the bill would be for a cartage operation) to get it there fast--- further that the company I drive for got a cut--- further that any other operations, like air-carriers for example, got a cut, and so on---...

Cargo Van Need opinions on van replacement

I'm still driving a 1998 Chevy. As long as it runs-- and it does run good-- this one is paid for. If I were to replace it---I'm thinking either Chevy like I'm driving but newer, or Ford E-series. But that's just me. If I win the Lottery, the sky is the limit--- gas Transit. I'm just a trifle...

    Tax Deduction Question

I sleep in the van whenever possible partly because even cheap motels cost something and partly because I'm an incurable Scotsman (I inherited it from my Dad, who had it worse than I do). There are times when I will choose a motel room, and it has to do with weather. Extreme cold weather will...

    Speed Limits and fuel economy

I may get to 70--- occasionally touch 75--- but it seems on a long cruise I'll naturally settle in at 60.

OMG I shoulda slept in the van!

I had one. The place wasn't bad, but the timing sure was! I had just made a delivery, and knew the nearest rest-stop was beyond my range that night so I pulled up to a Days Inn. Problem: Talledega. Just before Nascar weekend. A room that should go for no more than 80 was going for 250. I managed...

Can I use my Class B RV as an expediter?

They have those hitches/carriers mounted to the front of vans. Mount the generator on it, it's out of the way for loading/unloading.

    Financing

The idea of 100% financing in any van scares the bejeebers out of me. If you're that hard up, the first breakdown in a Sprinter will do you in. Those things are Mercedes-Benz regardless of what the nameplate says, and when something breaks you'll pay M-B prices. Even in my "North American Slop...

Something is fishy here in MI...

A box van rated at 8600. It can't carry much. My standard van is rated at 8650, because it's a standard 2500 heavy it can just about manage 2900 lbs payload if I do it just right. A box van will be heavier to start with. Run that across a CAT scale at a truck stop the first chance you get. That...

    Sprinter Van owner operator

I tried that. Not gonna do it again, all you do is make problems for yourself and there's not enough money-- maybe less actually-- to be worth it. Consider that you may actually be competing against yourself for the same load-- if the load goes for bid as they so often do, with multiple...

    Unusual tire problems

It's been done, much of that late last year and the entire power-steering/power brake system (complete with steering box) was replaced last Summer. On this van, the power brakes are hydraulic powered from the power-steering pump. Last year about this time I had the ball joints looked at...

    Unusual tire problems

OK. I keep an eye on these tires. IF they hold up, OK maybe. But, another dose of tread separation way earlier than the tire should be kaput--- with still significant tread left on the tire---it's time to get serious. Cheap tires are hardly ever really inexpensive, it costs more to replace cheap...

I want to bid on load boards.. HELP!

I drive for an outfit, get paid 1.03 a loaded mile (fsc included). I know before I turn the key what the run pays, and the outfit I drive for has been straight with me. If I tried to "cut out the middleman" and go straight to the load boards myself--- I would starve for sure. Everything I've...

    Unusual tire problems

I'm not sure I would have specified that. Seems my trusted tire-shop sells them, along with the more trusted name brands. I would guess they look at the age of the van (it's a 1998) the mileage (it has 542,000 miles on it) and decide that they can get away with cheap on a vehicle that might not...

    Unusual tire problems

Thanks for making me check the door plate. Nope, my tires ARE the correct size so that's not the problem. So-- if these tires go bad I know that the size and load range aren't the problem because those are correct, I know the shocks aren't the problem because those have been replaced, and I know...

    Unusual tire problems

I just got the van back after having a ton of work done on it. I'm going to be keeping an eagle-eye on those new tires. Sentinels again. Maybe this time it will be better. If not----....Well, at least I'll know what the problem isn't.
