Getting our own customers - where do I begin?

I notice on his website that he favors 6-wheel Sprinters. Unless the design has changed since last I knew, that's the very devil if you have to slide standard pallets into it. No room between the rear wheels.

Getting our own customers - where do I begin?

In any case-- BH hasn't responded since his second post on this thread. Could be we scared him? (Note: It might be as well if we did. He's coming in with almost no planning and an equal amount of preparation--- if he gets going he'll fail in months at that rate.)

Getting our own customers - where do I begin?

Get a few more whiskers. I'm serious. You started in 2014, you haven't got your feet wet yet. It takes time to grow a business that stands the tests that come. My brother had a tendency towards daydreams like that. "I started my business on 7/28/2015, today I have 250 trucks on the road". At...

    Cargo Van Dodge ProMaster

You guys with your big, expensive toys are making my old Chevy look better and better. Promaster is made by Fiat--- Fiats have never had a stellar reputation that I ever heard of. Sprinter is made by Mercedes-- and carries with it the expensive Mercedes price tag for repairs and maintenance...

Big Truck What speed is your truck governed too?

I don't know--- never found the top end. However, about 70 or just below when speed of traffic allows that. Sometimes I drift down to 60 and find it hard to stay above that. Not because of the vehicle-- because of me.

How should I call this, sabotage or discrimination?

Lack of information. You can't make bricks without clay. Judging from what there is though-- Opel, it's way past time you move on from that carrier. If they're doing like you say, cut your losses and move your fleet to another outfit.

Cargo Van Is anyone else slow right now?

I'm in a different branch of this-- hotshot in a van-- right now I'm doing 1.03 a loaded mile. .90 is the base, .13 FSC. .80 a mile--- even if you have no dead-head you can just barely make it.

Cargo Van Cargo Van Weight Limit???

Ford and Chevy both made vans with several different weight ratings. Within the 250/2500 classification you had lightweights like the one the OP has to relative heavyweights like the one your friend has. The way you can tell what you have is the door plate. It tells you what YOUR VAN is capable...

Cargo Van Cargo Van Weight Limit???

The upshot of all of this is that the recommended limit is there for a reason. Nytmare, if you exceed those limits-- especially if you do it often-- you will have a nightmare to go with your "handle". The recommended limit gives you a bit of a safety margin. Go to that point but not over, and...

Cargo Van Cargo Van Weight Limit???

That sorta depends. How long do you plan to keep this van? Does getting pulled over by LEO if you're obviously way overloaded bother you? Do you like springs, axles, tires and so on, or do you consider things like these expendable on a monthly basis? However much you decide, be aware that it...

fleet owner who owns half of vans in service

Much of expedited work is automotive-related. Right now, the auto industry is in their annual plant-shutdown/vacation/retooling for the next model year phase, so not much is being shipped at the moment. Wait until late August/early September, and things should pick up noticeably.

fleet owner who owns half of vans in service

It could be that it just sorta worked out that way. Or it could be that the owner of the fleet of vans is related to the owner of the company. Don't know, based on the lack of information so far.

    Calling all photographers!

First, I'm not a woman. Second, they'll probably pay good money NOT to see a photo of my van. Just sayin'. )Note: My van actually isn't too shabby--- but it's old and kinda looks it.)

Cargo Van Cargo Vanners What GPS do you use?

It's Chicago--- what can I tell ya? The only legal vehicles on boulevards and Lake Shore Drive are cars, certain RVs (must have RV plates) and CTA buses. My van has "B" truck plates. According to city ordinance, truck plates of any kind are illegal on boulevards or Lake Shore Drive except for...

Cargo Van Cargo Vanners What GPS do you use?

I drive a cargo van, but use the truck setting on my Garmin. Reason: I live near Chicago, and a GPS set on the car settings will take you on Chicago's boulevards and Lake Shore Drive if those are the fastest/shortest routes. Fastest shortest way I can think of to getting a ticket....... The...

Truck driver needs to be identified and arrested.

I can't help thinking this ties in with the "Driver cam" threads. Still think a driver-cam would help? This joker had a "friend" video him doing this, and they put this on You-Tube. I swear, some blokes can't get out of their own way.......

    Tri-State Miss Understood

I still would like to hear TS's side of the story. One thing about it, if somebody came in here with a beef about Load One we would hear within hours from JElliott or his spokesman, and so get at least as much of the complete story as the combatants are legally able to say (once it goes to...

    Bad lights, bad wiring...

If you have European-style lights in your van-- which is common these days-- you will likely have a solid-state control unit in the trailer-light kit. This converts the European-style separate turn-signal and stop lights into the old-style American combined turn-signal/stop lights that most...

    Bad lights, bad wiring...

Progress, at any rate. I have the new resistor block/relay in hand, the connector harness is ordered and will be here tomorrow. At least the resistor is out in the open so it's not hard to get at and replace.

    Tri-State Miss Understood

You rear-ended another vehicle and somehow expected that Tri-State was just gonna write off the charges?? The story changes each time too--- so I begin to think there's a trifle more than we know so far. I'd be interested to hear Tri-State's side of the story. Example of change: It goes from...
