Cargo Van Is anyone else slow right now?

They've kept me moving anyway. Actually had to turn down a couple of jobs the past few weeks because of maintenance issues--- otherwise, nothing to complain about as far as not having enough work.

Self-Driving 'Crash' Trucks to Hit FL Highways This Year

I dunno--- there's something about the name of this thread that's a little unsettling. I had a crash-a-car as a kid. You put the thing together, aimed it more or less at a fixed object, and when it hit powerful springs inside the car would make it fly apart. Put it back together and do it...

Cargo Van Is anyone else slow right now?

Hmmmm--- I was slow Monday evening, but not from lack of work. I actually had a job on board, had to give it to two other drivers. See--- the throttle-cable broke. Suddenly, the engine settles to idle speed and I can't go faster than 5 miles an hour. Moved like that for about a mile and a half...

    "Security" light is lit.

I had a long run (about 1100 miles round trip) since I posted here last. Mostly, the light was on within moments of start-up. However, there was a solid period of 300 miles Thursday night/Friday morning when the light stayed off. It came back on shortly after my last fill-up of that trip and did...

    "Security" light is lit.

The cylinder is looking likely, actually. I note here that if I turn the key to the run position, without starting-- the light goes out after about 3 seconds. Then- I've started the engine. Light stays out for a varying length of time, but yesterday it was never "off" for more than 5 minutes...

    "Security" light is lit.

OK--- the door switch in the rear door is faulty-- I know this because the interior lights stay on unless you press the bypass switch. Also because I saw a broken piece fall out of that mechanism one day recently. I can forget about key fobs--- this thing is old-fashioned enough that it has...

    "Security" light is lit.

OK... I've had this problem off and on for some time, right now I want a handle on how big a problem this is. The "security" light illuminates on my dashboard while driving. At the moment it doesn't seem to cause anything beyond a bit of anxiety-- and aggravation because I just spent money...

    Cargo Van Bad market?

On the other hand-- the outfit I drive for varies quite a bit in any given month. Some weeks are dreadful-- others busy. This week I had to have my van in the shop almost on an emergency basis. Rain on Friday caused the ignition to get "shakey" so replacement parts was a necessity. Add a new PS...

    Headlight Restoration

I've had plastic and glass--- right now, my Chevy is old-fashioned enough to have the rectangular glass bulbs. For some reason, glass isn't nearly as subject to pitting and getting dull as plastic is. It's the same nasty road grit being sprayed up on the lights, so--- plastic is more...

Engineers close I-65 NB near Lafayette again

They've been doing this quite a bit lately. One thought: When I've taken I-74 to Indiana 63 and then US-41, no way am I swinging back to I-65. I'll stick with US 41 at least until US 30, if not right up to I-80-94. It's stupid to add all those miles for no reason.

Getting our own customers - where do I begin?

One thing the rest of us need to keep in mind is that the admins and the moderators have tools--- among other things the "dashboard"-- which shows a lot of stuff going on in the background. I have a dashboard on my blog. It shows the number of visits of various posters, the IP address of a...

    Gasoline under $2.00 a gallon

I'll have to see what my outfit does. They've held at .13 FSC since winter. It was up to .17 at the high point last year.

    My apologies

I was going to reply to Kast but note now that the post I was going to reply to has disappeared. No matter. This is just my personal suspicion-- since I don't have access to the inner workings here there's no way I can prove or disprove-- but I've begun to suspect we have some sock-puppet...

    The Zilwaulkee Bridge

Maybe it's just the way the photo looks---- but it looks to me like there might be a real good reason for the bridge to be stuck in the "open" position for awhile. The ship passing through looks like it is about to sink, and at the speed it is going it will do so right under the bridge.

    My apologies

I have accepted the presidency of the "Organization of People Who Are Offended By People Who Are Easily Offended".

    My apologies

There is a distinct difference in apologies "I'm sorry if what I said offended you" is drastically different than "I was wrong, and I apologize for the things I said that were out of line". The first apology example really isn't an apology at all. The second example is a real apology, and I'll...

Getting our own customers - where do I begin?

Hmmmm.... This thread was about getting your own customers. Now, I can't be 100% certain of course, but I'm still reasonably sure that the past couple of pages of posts is NOT how it's done. Just sayin'

Getting our own customers - where do I begin?

The OP hasn't been back since his second or third reply. Either he got his answer--- or he figured he won't get the answer he wants to hear. It's not as easy as it looks.....
