That's what our thoughts were. We have been keeping an eye on the loadboard since we got to California and there has been nothing. Best case scenario they would have moved us at now cost. But that's no money in our pocket. May be a shocker, but we only make 50 cents a mile anyway. They are...

Re checked my numbers. Well get .50 a mile and it's 2800 total miles. So $1400, 900-1000 after we take our taxes out.

Heading to minisota now. Getting a load out of cali looked to be slim to none. Dispatch was not moving any trucks out of cali for free. Apparently we weren't the only ones. Expeditors gave us a call and offered us an opportunity, they have a truck that was left in minisota by a team that ran...

Indeed. Not sure I could handle not having someone with me. Sounds super lonely. As for the truck, she handles it very well. There are times where she will get panicked. Example being our first night in California. She missed an exit, which meant taking a different "not truck friendly route"...

Even if you were. It comes with the territory. Sometimes all you can do is laugh. Delivery went ok. Pulled into the wrong entrance, had to back out and go to the correct one. Once we got to the correct one the security guard was kinda rude but no biggie. Drove 60 miles to a loves and actually...

Something exciting every day! We were able to relax and watch tv all the way up until about 8pm (Eastern time). Pick up was at 9. Go to start the truck. Click... click.. yep. Battery is dead. SOMEONE (wife) did not put the apu in stand by. She turned on the heat the other day which resulted in...

Exactly. If I re read this entire thread I would walk away with the thought "man, this dude is a baby" but I want to be as transparent as possible with my emotions because I'm sure I'm not the only emotional dude. Lol. Just want any new people that read this to understand that the stress is very...

I agree with you. Chances are I might not like anywhere we go. For awhile anyway. Not sure when I became so high maintenance but I hope it fades. I think it will die down when the comfort level goes up. Guess I just don't like a place until I see something worse, like right now, Mississippi...

Delivered. Gps took us to the wrong address. Ended up being about a half hour away. So that was late. We had accepted a small load (30 miles) locally before we actually got here. That will prolly suck. Don't pick up till 10pm. This will be my last adventure to California. There are zero places...

Another slightly irritating day. We're about 350 miles away from our delivery. Don't need to be there till 9:00am so we're still way ahead of schedule. It seems that the last 600 miles have been uphill, then downhill, then repeat. Right around 5% grades. Not a huge deal but more taxing than...

This is probably the most valuable piece of information i personally can provide. For the love of God, VERIFY YOUR ENGINE BRAKE FUNCTION BEFORE YOU DRIVE ANYWHERE!!! I know what an engine brake is and how to use one, or at least that's what I thought. I looked at all switches in the truck when...

Deffinatly helps. How much would you say is "getting heavy". Obviously a very specific question but there has got to be a number for when you should prolly turn down the load. In my mind, if a 3000lb load comes along I might think about it for a bit but logically thinking I'm going to assume my...

We have picked up and are now on the road. Prolly the smoothest pick up so far. The wife is getting pretty good with the bill of ladings and most of the people we've met are super nice. Couple pieces of info not in any order: Not sure if I had posted about our weight yet. I got a weigh ticket...

Second load picked up. Took about 2hrs but we met another fed ex couple that have been doing it for 20ish years. They said good luck and don't let anyone get you down :) First time securing a load. Paper work was also wrong on this one. Should deliver in 8-9 hrs, about 500 miles.

Helpful hint. Ez pass does not work in OK, FL, KS, and TX. 2 blown tolls later... So irritated right now. Apparently the phrase "all your tolls are good, you have a pass" actually means "some of your tolls are converted and we'll surprise you with the ones that aren't". No one is open on...

Lol, need to make sure our way of doing things is the right way first. Got our shower in. Loves card will give you points for fuel purchases and eventually we'll start racking up free showers. Also accepted a load out of here tomorrow heading to Nebraska. Hopefully it's better than Texas. At...

One more thing, one positive note for being with fed ex is that they are just a phone call away. You might be on hold for a little bit but someone will answer and they will help you with ANYTHING. Any question, large or small, dumb or not, if in doubt, call them. SUPER helpful. We called them...

I know the feeling, before we actually started I was looking for anything that would put me in an experienced persons shoes. Lots of info on the big stuff, but not a whole lot on the little stuff, which adds to nervous feelings when getting started (pumping gas (gotta call it fuel, lmao)) at the...
