What is the current demand for an expedited solo straight truck driver?

First thing is you have to find an owner that would let you solo, if you can do that and you stay in the good freight areas for expediting. Its probably more profit for you that way than splitting with a teammate, but obviously a team is the owners best interest. I did team driving in a st for a...

    Loads going cheap lately?

Are the rates bad in good areas as well? As much as i hate to say it, i understand the logic of running cheap out of a risky area. People get scared they will sit for a week or have to do a long deadhead out. I would rather run a load for 60 cents just to get the :censoredsign: out of laredo then...

What is a TSA certified driver?

Ive delivered to american airlines at the PHX airport and i never had to do anything special. Also plenty of air freight pick ups and deliveries. Perhaps it was done by my carrier without my involvement but military bases have been the only thing ive needed to do any special qualifications for.

    Extra battery

I think the best way to go is lithium. A lot more expensive than agm or regular deep cycle batteries, but like 4 times lighter for same AH, a 300ah bank weighs 60lb, can be discharged to 100% although some say 80%, versus deep cycle where you cant go past 50% without hurting your batteries life...

Front mounted generator and extended fuel tank on van?

I Damn. Wont get that one. I like the champion 2000w one. Is small enough i may be able to just mount it underneath as well. I used to have their larger 4000w one and i remember it lasting and running well even when i wasnt the best at changing the oil on time.

Front mounted generator and extended fuel tank on van?

I'm familiar I used to be in a van that had one not sure if it was a different model or not though. With that and another fan on my face I was usually good up to like 78 degrees. But I can't rough it past that. Especially sleeping, I like it cooler. Yeah, as long as it's not really hot, I was...

Front mounted generator and extended fuel tank on van?

Let me know how that fan works when you get a run to Laredo in July! Lol I'm going to do the fan and battery thing as well as long as it's 55 to 80 I can probably get by with it. Well see. They also have this new "portable" a.c. unit called zerobreeze. 1100 btus, 150w, so it's not the most...

Front mounted generator and extended fuel tank on van?

What I'm leaning toward is swing mount generator on back, extra connecting fuel tank under frame of back, outlet connector plug for running 120v and 30v (I think) plug for the a.c mounted in front of brake lights on side of van. When running the generator, I get out and connect the plugs and...

Front mounted generator and extended fuel tank on van?

I was thinking I could get a small flat and wide gas tank that would be mountable to the bottom back of underneath the van, as long as it's done properly, I dont see how that would be anymore risky than the fuel tank already mounted underneath. Mounted on a hitch where it can easily strike...

May Be Loads 4 You & Banter

Even with the lower rate back that's not a bad week. Nice to go out west sometimes for the change of scenery.

May Be Loads 4 You & Banter

I'm curious what you ended up deciding to do or if you got a load?

Cargo Van Larger or more weight?

Probably like.... 75-85% of all my loads would have fit in a regular cargo van dims & weight wise. People say a lot of shippers will request sprinters specifically. But until someone some one shows me some written proof of a shipper having that requirement, i will continue to believe its a...

Planet fitness or Anytime fitness better for expediting?

It's not that hard as long as you got a fridge to store stuff in. Just gotta create a diet plan of nutritious healthy foods that balance the calories and macros that you will enjoy, or at least tolerate till you can learn to enjoy it. Being in a van or truck you gotta have stuff that's pretty...

Planet fitness or Anytime fitness better for expediting?

They do have different pricing as they are all independent franchises. I think it's usually somewhere around 40 a month plus the sign up fees and stuff. ($1 sign up fee March 4th thru 8th). I would just go to your local gym and sign up there since it won't make much of a difference in price...

Hopeing to learn the ropes of expediteing and become owner operators

As you probably know the van market will stay pretty saturated, a lot of competition, some brokers keep their van count in line with their expected business demands, and some will just take on vans no matter what. Panther is the latter. While it's good for panther to be able to cover the most...

Everything I need to start my expediting business?

Currently working for fleet owner, planning on getting started as an owner operator around February or March. My thinking behind that is it lets me build up my money, credit will grow some, and most important some of the more reputable companies will most likely be planning for an increase in...

    A few tax questions

So if you put a 1099 driver in the van, pay them 60% and they pay fuel, you cant use the mileage deduction while the driver deducts the fuel? I wouldnt think this would be double dipping since you are your driver are filing two separate returns.
