Model years of promasters/transits to avoid?

I do love it in a way, and I would make more money even with the lower rates than I would a local class a driving job, at least where I am. Albeit not a lot more. But idk if it's enough more to be having to live in a van weeks at a time, all the extra costs involved with that, and sacrificing a...

Model years of promasters/transits to avoid?

I would be all for it but problem is very few carriers that are worth a :censoredsign: will take me on with a van that old. Someone on a promaster forum made a good point, if I get an older one with 100-200k on it, either the issues will have already been fixed or it didn't have the problem. I have a...

    Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet for accounting

Im working on finishing mine, except it's through Google sheets. I'm pretty proud of it, just gotta figure out the formulas for my analytics section. Most of what I did was inspired by a YouTuber (who hasn't put out anything in a while) everything apax. Just search apax expediting and he...

Model years of promasters/transits to avoid?

Looking to buy a van soon. 3500 long and tall. I know the first few years of both of these had a few notorious problems. If I get something....2018 or newer? Have most of these issues been resolved? If it was you what would be your minimum year? This is a very generic question, obviously my...

By only doing it when you are in a risky place, that you also got extra money going into. Never once have i just run for 20 cents over period. What im talking about is risk management. Also, you should have a maintnance and repair fund as part of your operating costs in my opinion. I do 3 cents...

Dont get me wrong you DEFINATELY need to figure out what sorta salary you need, but i just dont include it in my cost per mile is all. I look at my bottom line and say ok i made this much i need this much for personal stuff so this is how much i can put back into the business. And yes youll...

Also there a probably a lot of good truck drivers who are just bad businessmen who are running at a loss. I refuse to believe as a TT OO you cant make pretty damn good money if you are smart about it. Shipping is in more of a demand now than its ever been with all this ecommerce continuing and...

    Loads going cheap lately?

Walmart is basically doing the same thing trying to compete with amazon as well. Who really knows what is going to happen in this industry in the next 10 years with so much technological advancement. Shippers will mess up orders less. Self driving trucks are definately coming, and while i...

    Loads going cheap lately?

First of all 20c a mile over was me being conservative just for the point its probably going to be 25-30 over. Just depends on your expenses its going to be different for all. Second yeah, you are setting an expectation, but its expectations on areas that have a lot more going to it than coming...

    Loads going cheap lately?

I was comparing a crap-rate runs actual per hour after expenses rate to minimum wage, not comparing expediting to a minimum wage job. Those are completely different. Also im talking about van expediting as an owner operator....not trucking, which you can get 1.50 to 2 a mile.

    Loads going cheap lately?

If youre only making a few pennies more than your cpm at 65 cents a mile you need to look at your spending in my opinion. Bare minimum that should be 20cents per mile net. Is that great money? No. But thats still above minimum wage at highway speeds. Also, just dont take loads to these low rate...

    Loads going cheap lately?

Exactly. Doesnt mean im always going to do that but sometimes it makes sense to run cheap so i can get somewhere i can get a better rate. And know that its a possibility ill have to do that when accepting a rate on a load going there originally.
