That was the primary cause of other things to blow up. Some not justified, but most were. Hot topic, are they closing down? They say no. But as I said, we would be the last to find out.
I got a load before I could post this yesterday. A local north carolina to north caroline. At least this weeks charges are covered...My net this week so far is $34. With one more week to the month, this month is not looking good at all.
19 days=3 loads.
In the early 2000s we had the same, around 2010 at the end of a long legal fight the company was closed and all drivers and employees let go. Those that wanted to, went to a subsidiary
Nowadays my door is blank. They are strongly incentivized to deal fairly or it will be somebody else's name on it same day
I control my certifications, licences, plates and insurance. I'm ok but some drivers have up to 5 companies they can pick up freight at the drop of a hat. This is the way
I thought you guys were headed in that direction, here if you are judged a dependent contractor (which is an employee) the company would owe a ton of back taxes (and so would you) but the possibility of that is so financially punishing - they pay 3 times what employees pay on deductions after all - there is really nothing they can do to a driver that "steps out" on them
Not sure what the legal environment is right now. You may need to start exploring that
Personally, as long as they keep covering the cargo insurance and any necessary DOT filings and border charges li still get to act like I'm signed on and get high pay with lower expenses. Win win.
But I have an established company sitting unused, one call to insurance on any weekday and I'm a "multi"
